Booby Popper
Was tying a booby fly for fishing one day and the idea crossed me… I could tie a bigger booby pattern that pop.. so after a few prototype… the Booby Popper went for some test and it’s loud and successful… our Hampala Barb just could not resist this noisy fella…
I’m sure the Bass and other top water predator will go for it
Materials List:
Cone – Marc Petitjean Magic Head
Hook – Ahrex TP610 Trout Predator size 2
Tail – Streamer hackles, Flashabou and UV flash
Body – Extra fine UV Dubbing, Foam sheet and Wolf hair fibers
Eye – 9mm Semperfli Booby foam and 6mm 4D Living Fish eye
Head – Deer Creek Mega Lazer Dub
Thread – 12/0 White Nano Silk
Other – Deer Creek Fine flex UV resin
Pictures step by step tying instruction:
Prepare the thread base… here I use 12/0 white Nano silk
Tie in some flashabou
Tie in a pair of streamer saddles
Tie in some UV flash and some wolf hair fiber… just like you are tying a deceiver
Tie in the foam sheet… then repeat tying in some UV flash or extra fine UV dubbing
Cut the 9mm Booby tube foam, insert it to the hook
Tie down the foam
Insert the magic head and tie down
Tie in some Deer Creek Mega Lazer Dub… comb it to the back… then shape the head with thin coat of Deer Creek Fine Flex UV resin
Trim the magic head
The Booby Popper completed
