Dron Lee, a fly tying extraordinaire, is not your normal fly tier. His passion and commitment to this art form is evident in his constant research and practice to create the best example of the fly using nothing but the best materials and techniques that make the patterns behave realistically in the water. His flies are nothing less than masterpieces that are worthy of a place in the display cabinet and also in the fly box. His goal for every fly is to look real, behave naturally, cast easily, and catch fish after fish without damage, no simple feat to put all four elements together in a single fly.

His passion for fishing started when he was a young boy growing up in the coastal town of Kuantan. Catching fish with simple line and bait came naturally to this outdoor boy. As he grew, so did his passion for fishing. Armed with advanced gear, he ventured into the world of sports fishing. Exotic locations like Seychelles, Maldives, Mongolia, Thailand, Taiwan, China and Borneo became his playground and also the testing ground for his fly patterns.

Understanding the value fly fishing, he sets out to share the art of fly fishing to the world. Together with a group of like minded fly fishers, they set up United Fly Fisher Organization (UFO). Dron, together with several fly casters acquired the status of Certified Casting Instructor and that started their serious endeavor to spread fly fishing to the world. Dron organized the first of many International Fly Fishing Festival with the inaugural one in Kuala Lumpur in 2012. This event started the ball rolling and since then similar events were held all across the region. Today, there are thousands of fly fishers in this region.

His personal mission is to make this sport more accessible to the general public by sharing knowledge through fly casting and fly tying sessions. To create more interest and share his knowledge and experience, he started his online presence through the Fly Tying Nation platform where free tutorials are available to all. His work is recognized by many and is also acknowledged by many leaders in the industry and made Pro Tier by Semperfli and Deer Creek.

As an educator, Brandon has an interest in learning and exploring new things. He loves to break things down and see how the process can be simplified. His love for fishing starts at a young age, being born in a village by the river, it is only natural for him to explore the river and to think of ways to catch these aquatic creatures. As he grew so did his appetite for adventure.

In 2014, he finally picked up fly fishing and fell in love with this art form as well as the finer art of fly tying. Two years later, he sat for his Casting Instructor Certification and passed. He started to teach fly fishing to anyone who wants to learn and he fishes whenever he can.

His fishing horizons expanded and he began to venture overseas to exotic locations to fish. He hopes to explore more fishing localities and meet new people. His passion for this sport has seen him travelling, fishing, meeting new people, sharing the art of fly fishing and fly tying as well as documenting his adventures.
